The Sunrise Community Center in Bakersfield, California, is a multi-phase development designed to create a dynamic space for education, recreation, and community connection. This long-term project prioritizes accessibility, youth development, and public well-being through thoughtfully planned facilities and site infrastructure.
Phase 1 – Completed
The first phase established the foundation for the center’s community-serving mission with:
- 9,000 square feet of classroom space, supporting educational and enrichment programs.
- A 700-square-foot restroom facility, fully ADA-compliant and built for daily capacity.
- An 80,000-square-foot soccer field, offering open-air recreational space for leagues, schools, and public use.
- Site and parking development across 3.5 acres, including drive aisles, walkways, lighting, utilities, and landscape zones.
Phase 2 – In Progress
Building upon Phase 1, the second phase expands the center’s footprint and services with:
- A 24,000-square-foot gymnasium, designed for indoor sports, assemblies, and multipurpose use.
- A two-story, 22,000-square-foot classroom building, providing additional educational capacity and flexible learning spaces.
- A two-story, 19,000-square-foot community center, planned as a central hub for events, programs, and civic activities.
- Site and parking development over 5.5 acres, including expanded access, drainage systems, and pedestrian-friendly circulation.
